A tent with a view
Back almost a week already from our last camping trip of the year. We spent 8 lovely sunny days at campsite Le Capeyrou in the Dordogne (south western France).
The campsite was perfect - right on the river, shady pitches, swimming pool, friendly people, AND a fab view of the Beynac chateau :-) During the day dozens of canoeists passed slowly by on the river, and the balmy evenings saw hot air balloons floating overhead as they passed over the chateau for a bird's eye view.
We wiled away most of our time swimming, BBQing (of course!), playing petanque (we have our own set now), reading, and trying to complete crossword puzzles. We did also manage to get out and see a bit of the surrounding area too, but more of that in other posts.
We also had our share of close encounters with the local wildlife - Jeroen seemed to be a magnet for wasps (being stung only once fortunately); we had a mole who visited almost every night (see last photo below for evidence!); and I was rudely awakened in the middle of one night by a toad whispering in my ear!! He must have hopped into the tent one hot afternoon seeking a cool refuge, and I (and my pillow!) just happened to be in his exit path back outside again - eeewww.
