Leaving on a jet plane...

This time next week we will be back on Australian soil :-) After about 25 long hours of travelling we will have just touched down. And, we just realised today, we have a 6 hour stopover in Kuala Lumpur on the way over (as well as almost 18 hours on the way back!), so yummy Malaysian food here we come - yippee!!

It is starting to get dark early here, and it is getting down to -2 C overnight already :-/ so we are both REALLY looking forward to BBQs in the sunshine and mixing our own cocktails on St Kilda beach :-D

See you all next week.

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie oi oi oi

Just had to share some of the new Australian government citizenship tests with you (although some of you have probably already seen them).

I still have tears in my eyes from laughing so much, but maybe they are just funnier to me now that I am living "away from home" !!??

Explain the following passage: In the arvo last Chrissy the relos rocked up for a barbie, some bevvies and a few snags. After a bit of a Bex and a lie down we opened the pressies, scoffed all the chockies, bickies and lollies. Then we drained a few tinnies and Mum did her block after Dad and Steve had a barney and a bit of biffo.

Does your family regularly eat a dish involving mincemeat, cabbage, curry powder and a packet of chicken noodle soup called either chow mein, chop suey or kai see ming?

What purple root vegetable beginning with the letter 'b' is required by law to be included in a hamburger with the lot?

In any two-hour period have you ever eaten three-bean salad, a chop and two serves of pav washed down with someone else's beer that has been flogged from a bath full of ice?

Macca, Chooka and Wanger are driving to Surfers in their Torana. If they are travelling at 100 km/h while listening to Barnsey, Farnsey and Acca Dacca, how many slabs will each person on average consume between flashing a brown eye and having a slash?

Spice up your life

Now don't laugh too loud, BUT I have a ticket to go and see the Spice Girls in Cologne (Germany) on 20 December :-) Yep, they have re-formed and are embarking on a big world tour later in the year!!!!

One of my friends from my expat womens' forum bought tickets for us yesterday. We are both VERY excited and are planning a mini road trip and an overnight stay in Cologne. Barbi lives in Amsterdam and will drive via Nijmegen to pick me up on the day of the concert. She is a member of Couch Surf so we will stay overnight with some friendly locals and then spend the next day as tourists AND going to the massive Xmas markets in Cologne. Apparently they are famous around Europe, and hundreds of thousands of people flock to the city during the market period.

So, who could ask for more??!! The Spice Girls, bratwurst, gluhwein, AND Xmas goodies :-)) Can't wait.
