News from NL
Just realised that September is nearly over and I haven't yet posted once this month, so in the spirit of maintaining my record of having posted every month for the past two years..........here is a bit of an update of what's been happening :-)
It's turned out to be quite a busy (and sometimes turbulent!) month.
We went to a crazy funk concert of George Clinton and band at the 013 Club in Tilburg, where at one point (if I remember correctly) there were about 20 people up on stage, including a grown man wearing a nappy! We danced the night away at the Lux here in Nijmegen to a groovy Brazilian/Dutch band called Zuco 103. We travelled to the Philips Stadium in Eindhoven one Saturday evening to see the Aussie Socceroos beat the Netherlands 2-1 in what turned out to be a pretty lacklustre game :-/ AND I turned 42 back on the 14th of the month - eek! And in true Dutch style, where the birthday boy/girl treats everyone to cake instead of the other way around, I baked a huge batch of mini chocolate/walnut/caramel muffins for all my colleagues at work, and they were a huge hit :-) My brother Jason was also here with us for two weeks, and amongst other things we visited the Burgers Zoo in Arnhem and ate out at the Orient Plaza (where they had kangaroo steak on the menu at the Indonesian restaurant - go figure!??)
In between all that Jeroen has been experimenting in the kitchen with lots of yummy fresh herbs from the market, I have been busy (and stressed out) at work with the whole Alitalia situation, our computer died (we have a new one now!), and Jeroen had a small accident in the car and it is now in Grave under the care of Piet - fingers crossed he can fix it as cheaply as possible.
That's pretty much the month in a nutshell. Major happening coming up next month is our trip to the US :-) We will be there for Bea & Ad's birthdays, for Halloween AND the presidential election - should be fun! Will keep you posted.
