...the musings of an Aussie in the Netherlands

We have moved!

Well, after all the stress of the mortgage application process, and a long week of extremely hard work on the part of my lovely husband :-)) (painting, wallpapering, moving loads of boxes, AND putting Ikea furniture together) we have moved in to our new apartment - yippee!

And in a word, it is great :-) It is so quiet and relaxed and it is a treat having our own bathroom & kitchen! Here are a few photos to give you an idea of how we have decorated. We didn't really have to do anything to the bathroom or kitchen, except paint the bathroom wall white, but Jeroen (and our friend Ge-or) pretty much painted the rest of the apartment and wallpapered one wall in the living room.

Oh, and BTW, I promise to send everyone an email once we have our new telephone number and email address sorted.

DIY paradise

Well, it really IS happening now - after a few stressful moments and hiccups in the mortgage application process, we are definately getting the keys of our new apartment on Monday .....yippee!!!

So we headed of to the Gamma today. Gamma is pretty much the equivilent of Bunnings here and has EVERYTHING needed for budding DIY'ers like us ;-)))

We bought a bunch of stuff, including some wallpaper for our "feature" wall (see sample here - very '70s I know!), paint rollers & brushes, AND 2 sexy white full length coverall suits to wear whilst painting :-))

Already a married woman for 3 days :-))

Here are a few photos from Friday :-))) We had a lovely day.....the ceremony was intimate (with only Jeroen's parents and a few friends in attendance - including a surprise appearance of 4 of my colleagues!). The celebrant (Hannah) was great, she did a really wonderful job encapsulating the relaxed mood we were after.

After the ceremony we went out to lunch to de Hemel (Heaven) with about 8 people, and in the evening out for dinner to het Uilenspiegel with Bea & Piet (Jeroen's parents)

All in all a great day......the sun even shone a little bit during the ceremony :-))
